Detroit playwright, Dominique Morisseau has won this year’s MacArthur Fellows award. Morisseau’s various work includes “Detriot ’67”, “Skeleton Crew”, “Paradise Blue”, and her first musical, “Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations,” which is planned to hit Broadway in 2019 and just finished a set of shows in Los Angeles.
The MacArthur “genius” award is a grant of $650,000. Which is paid out over the course of five years. The Chicago-born and based organization has awarded people each year since 1981, and the nominees are brought to the foundations attention by anonymous nominators.
