SF Bay Area Critics Circle Nominations
The 2016 San Francisco Bay Area Critics Circle Nominations are now public.  The 41st annual award ceremony will take place on March 27th at the Victoria Theatre.  While there are many notable female artists on the nominees lists, WWSF would like to give a special shout out to 3 Girls Theatre for winning the 2016 Annette Lust Emerging Talent Award!  Also, 4 out of 5 nominees for original script are female!

Breaking the Binary Project
Regina V. Fields interviews  SK Kerastas and Lisa Evans for HowlRound about their “Breaking the Binary” project. This free public symposium about accessibility for trans* people working in the arts has been conducted twice – in May 2016 in the SF/Bay Area co-presented by CalShakes and Berkely Repertory Theatre (watch May 2016 livestream) and in January 2017 at ART in Boston (watch January 2017 event livestream).  Lisa Evans articulates some of the key questions explored by this project in this way: “What type of access does it take for transgender, gender non-conforming, non binary, genderqueer, and two spirit folks to be able to fill up every role within an institution and be valued, and for institutions to understand the barriers of why there isn’t that representation right now.”
